      EVENT DETAILS
Human Rights in Burma and the Rohingya Refugee Crisis

The ongoing Rohingya Refugee Crisis in Burma (Myanmar) has been called “a textbook example of ethnic cleansing” by the United Nations and has led to mass violence and displaced over 600,000 Rohingyas. In this interactive panel discussion, local and international experts will address the crisis, the historical and contemporary situation of the Rohingyas, and the broader human rights context across Burma and its neighboring nations.

Salt Lake City is home to many resettled members of the Rohingya, Karen, and Karenni populations from Burma and we welcome their contributions to the discussion.

This event is held in partnership with the University of Utah’s Center for Research on Migration and Refugee Integration and the Asia Center.
